Filming: The Basics

Films are used in a variety of subjects as coursework or final projects. Familiarity with filming is also useful for extracurricular activities or job interviews that may require a sample of your teaching or answering questions.

This guide will describe the basics of planning, filming, and editing films on a variety of technology that Hamilton offers.

Video cameras can be checked out at the RDS in Burke Library and students enrolled in art classes can check out video cameras and filming equipment such as microphones and light kits at the DAL in the arts center.

This guide will also include advice for filming on smartphones, a technology that many students have access to right in their pockets.
